You lift me up, so I can stand on mountains
"You lift me up, so I can stand on mountains ..." Singing phenomenon Josh Groban's rich and haunting baritone voice is everywhere these days. Oprah interviewed him not too long ago. When asked about his overnight rise to stardom, they both reversed the conversation and agreed: "There is no such thing as overnight success. True success comes when preparation meets opportunity." He recently visited the arts camp that he attended as a teenager. When asked if he gets jitters before performances, he replied: "Sometimes I don't handle them very well, but at some point the technique takes over. That's why rehearsals are so important." It is no different with us. Eating "performances" can be rehearsed too! By knowing what to expect (hey! there are no surprises in either our own kitchens or typical menus for summer gatherings...) and mentally rehearsing what we KNOW we want and need to do, we open the door to our own success. In the meantime, we've got Grace and Hope to lift us up! Copyright 2004 Carolyn Allen
